It seems I’ve started a new beauty series after my recent YouTube video on supermarket beauty became an instant success! In the video, I featured a “supermarket sweep” style vlog, picking out the best beauty products at my local supermarket. Originally, I planned for it to be a quick, 60-second Instagram video showcasing just one product each week. However, when I went to Sainsbury’s, I faced some challenges. I couldn’t find a spot for my camera without feeling awkward, and I had my little one, Ted, with me, who needed constant mini scotch egg snacks to stay content.
So, I tweaked the concept a bit. I collected the beauty items I wanted and headed home to discuss my picks on camera. This change actually turned out better, allowing me to provide more detailed product reviews and thoughts on supermarket beauty shopping. Filming in-store would have been rushed, offering only brief overviews of each item while feeling self-conscious about getting caught filming. Plus, the lighting in supermarkets isn’t great, often making you look older and less vibrant.
This marks the beginning of a new series where I’ll regularly explore different supermarkets to find standout beauty products, uncover exciting new finds, and explore niche brands you wouldn’t expect to find in a grocery store.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts! What would you like to see in this series? There have been some fantastic suggestions in the YouTube comments, like creating an entire skincare routine with supermarket products, highlighting the best body care items, and comparing product offerings from pricier supermarkets like Waitrose and M&S to budget-friendly ones like ASDA and Lidl. I’m filming another episode this week, encouraged by all the enthusiasm!
The first episode, “Supermarket Best Beauty Buys,” was shot at Sainsbury’s. I can’t embed the video here due to technical glitches, but it’s just a click away. All the featured items can be purchased at Sainsbury’s, and I’ve included online shopping links for your convenience—some items are even cheaper online!
Here’s a bit about the products:
– KORRES Fig Body Milk: I was thrilled to find KORRES in a supermarket. The body milk is light yet nourishing, making it great for after-sun use.
– Burt’s Bees Almond Hand Cream: Although it might be one of the pricier items per ml in a supermarket, the packaging makes it a lovely gift. The cream is richly moisturizing, perfect for extremely dry hands.
– Superfacialist Cleanser: A beautiful, gentle cleanser that’s effective and comes in a practical tube, offering great value for money.
– L’Oreal Revitalift Cream-Mask: A well-loved product that I’ve talked about many times before.
– Garnier Eye Makeup Remover: A budget-friendly favorite that effectively removes stubborn mascara without irritating the eyes.
