This week, I’ve been hooked on online shopping once again, thanks to a beautiful dress I saw on Miss Selfridge’s Instagram. It got me excited for summer, though I did start worrying about whether we’d get a real summer and what I’d do if I’m left with a bunch of maxi dresses I can’t wear.
But let’s stay positive and make some plans. Here are some of the most beautiful and flattering maxi dresses perfect for easy summer styling. Just pair them with oversized sunglasses and sandals, or for spring, add a cardigan and Converse sneakers.
First up, my top pick is the Mandalay maxi from Hush. I own quite a few of Hush’s long dresses, and they are my go-to summer pieces whether I’m in the UK or traveling someplace tropical. This one stands out with its elegant white cotton design and can be worn strapless or with straps. It’s priced at £65.
Next, there’s the Emelle dress from the brand Ba&sh. I’m never sure how to pronounce their name—is it “bash” or the French way, “bu-a-ay-ess-ash”? Anyway, this dress is one you need to see to truly appreciate, with its open back and seventies vibe. It’s available on ASOS for £135.
The dress that sparked my shopping spree is actually a midi, not a maxi—the Lace Cami Sundress from Miss Selfridge. It looked longer in their Instagram picture! At £39, it’s a real bargain. Just team it with flat nude or tan sandals, and you’re all set.
Then there’s the Iris georgette dress from Saloni, which is a master class in color-blocking done right. Instead of hard lines, you get a flowing, flattering mix of colors. I adore coral and taupe, so it’s no surprise I love this one. Originally £395, it’s now £197.
Finally, another romantic lace number: the Castaway dress from French Connection. It has a vintage charm with its detailed design. Sadly, it’s not all cotton (the outer layer is viscose, but the lining is cotton), yet it should still keep you comfortable on a hot day. It’s priced at £130. Just remember to wear a bra with it!
Hope this gives you some ideas for your own summer wardrobe!
