Ah, we’re in the thick of wedding season now. It feels like it’s been going on for a while, but I just attended my first one—a stunning outdoor event in a very fancy garden with an incredibly lavish tent. Honestly, I could have moved right in!
Since this wedding caught me off guard (it came up quicker than I anticipated), I thought it would be helpful to assemble some essentials for wedding guests so I’m better prepared next time. Some items on the list are just for fun, especially the more expensive “if I won the lottery” type of picks because shopping should be enjoyable, never a dull task. If shopping starts to feel like a chore, it’s time to take a break.
First off, let’s talk about the dress. This year, I’m going for a pretty and elegant look. My body isn’t quite ready for body-hugging or short dresses. I’ve been loving shirt dresses lately, but the Karo Silk Dress from LK Bennett is just stunning with its longer length and sleek design. Now, can we just admire this amazing bag for a second? It’s so shiny, it’s almost blinding, just like the price. Normally, I prefer simple and understated bags, but I would definitely rock this one until it wore out. Though I’m reminded that I have a special bag still boxed away because I’m too nervous to use it, so maybe I won’t be adding this to my collection. Every bag needs essentials, like a pack of blotting papers. They’re lighter and thinner than a powder compact and prevent that chalky look after meals. I almost forgot about them until a makeup artist pulled some out at a shoot. They make so much sense for keeping your skin fresh and bright throughout the day. DHC offers them for £4 online.
After splurging on the bag (in our imagination), let’s save on the shoes. Opt for chunky heels if you’re spending time on grass—last week I kept sinking into the lawn, which was quite frustrating. While I’m tempted by some Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, the Bobbie Suede Sandals from Halston Heritage are chic and sexy, and relatively affordable at £150.
I’m off now. I just found out sales are happening—this is my happy place! I’ve got one tab open for dream vacations (even if I won’t get away, I’m rooting for a staycation) and another for my fashion wishlist. So much for an early night!
