The trend of dripping skincare products directly onto the face really puzzles me, especially when it comes to foundation. Using pipettes is already tricky when applying products to the palm of your hand, so why would anyone try to apply them straight onto their face? Nobody actually does this in real life.
Imagine sitting at your dressing table and telling your partner, “Hold on, I’m carefully squeezing this foundation onto the back of my hand to avoid spilling on our cream carpet.” It’s a sensible approach since using a pipette can feel like handling paint. But the absurdity lies in suggesting you tilt your face at an odd angle to apply it directly, risking spills everywhere.
While some may go to such lengths for a thrill, it admittedly looks a bit foolish. Makeup application can make you look strange enough, like when applying mascara can make you resemble a flustered puffer fish. However, dropping foundation directly onto your cheeks might make things awkward, to say the least.
Anyway, let’s get back to skincare. For this morning’s routine, I used Rose Inc Micellar Cleanser. This cleanser has a charming bottle with an easy-to-use dispenser, perfect for when you’re multitasking. The cleanser itself is a soothing cream-gel that feels fresh and effectively removes makeup. In my morning routine, it serves as a quick cleanse to clear any leftover product from the night before.
I also used the Sali Hughes Must-C Daily Serum, priced at £10 at Boots. I swear by vitamin C serums in the morning for their antioxidant protection and brightening effects. While there are many other ingredients you could try in your serum, like peptides or niacinamide, vitamin C has been my go-to for years. The Sali Hughes serum is potent yet gentle, offering excellent value for money.
My favorite, if you’re curious, is the Kiehl’s Powerful Line Reducing Concentrate. At £55, it’s pricier but worth it for its lovely velvety texture. I’ve been using it for years and find myself coming back to it.
Finally, I applied Dove Derma Series SPF30. I skipped additional moisturizer this morning, going straight for the SPF to protect my skin. Dove’s new sunscreen has a silky texture that’s gentle on sensitive skin, which can be hard to find. If you struggle with finding non-irritating sunscreen, this one might be worth a try.
