I’ve made some small updates to my makeup routine, and I’ve captured them all on video. While one of the changes involves my eyebrows, which you might already know, the other four are pretty new and exciting. So, let’s dive in.
First, I’ve started applying foundation or tinted moisturizer only to the center of my face instead of all over. It seems trivial, but it makes sense, especially when wearing turtlenecks. This keeps my neck and chin free from foundation, avoiding any interaction with snug woolen garments. It works best with a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer that blends easily. My current go-to is the ILIA Skin Tint in shade ST7, which provides a great glow.
Next, I’ve been trying out blusher on my eyes. Inspired by makeup artist Katie-Jane Hughes, I simply sweep a bit of blush on the outer corners of my eyes. It ties the look together without making you resemble a cartoon rabbit. You can just use whatever blush is left on your brush, whether it’s cream or powder. I used Freshfaced Cream Blush from Beauty Pie for this.
The third change is more of a makeup technique. I use a dark eye color in an upward wedge shape on the outer corners of my eyes to lift them, making me look less tired. This subtle change can be very effective. For a stronger effect, you could use eyeliner, but I prefer the softer approach with Vieve Eye Wand in Coffee.
For the fourth tweak, I’m using Brow Freeze to set my eyebrows. This product lifts my brows significantly, giving my face a fresh look. It’s like moving furniture around in a room; it changes the vibe entirely. Using the dedicated applicator makes the process much easier than using standard brow brushes.
Finally, I’ve hopped on the trend of using gloss-in-a-stick lipsticks. The Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine lipsticks are as glossy as a traditional gloss without the stickiness. They also moisturize and plump the lips effortlessly. My favorite is the Strawberry shade, although it’s often out of stock!
That sums up my makeup tweaks. Now, it’s time to watch the video and see these changes in action. Plus, I just got my hair cut and colored at The Suite in Bath, and I always love sharing that because people often ask about it. My pink jumper was a lovely gift from my friends at Scamp & Dude.
