I wanted to share a few fun beauty items I used for a festival where I tried to dress up as Dolly Parton. I know I fell short of that goal and ended up looking more like a risqué cowgirl, but that’s what happens when you give yourself only twenty minutes to put a costume together! Honestly, if you take away the wig and the inflatable accessories (best five pounds I’ve ever spent!), the look is not too far from my usual style. Let’s focus on my makeup now, shall we? Sorry, Dolly, especially since my lipstick got a little smudged!
For the lips, I used Urban Decay’s Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour in ‘Adrenaline’. On my eyes, I applied Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in Bourbon and Illamasqua Pigment. For a touch of color on my cheeks, I chose Illamasqua Shimmer Blush in Ambition and also played around with Eye Rock ‘Designer Eye Fashion’, though admittedly in the wrong spot. On my body, I sported an Urban Decay Tattoo from their set.
The Urban Decay 24/7 makeup really lasts, holding up for well over twenty-four hours—even without a primer or setting spray, which Urban Decay also excels at making. The Eye Rock added some extra sparkle, and the Illamasqua products brought a dramatic flair! Their intense pigment alone packs a punch, giving a rich color that stands out but can be layered with other shades for an impressive effect, almost like applying powdered precious metal. I’ll definitely be exploring more with Illamasqua in future looks, anticipating a bold style with big lashes and sleek hair.
That’s enough reminiscing about Bestival—back to work! By the way, if you were curious, the inflatable accessories were from a costume shop. They looked unimpressive in the packaging but were fabulous once inflated. The wig cost twelve pounds and had great volume, perfect for hours of fun!
