The latest photoshoot for Phoenix magazine turned into quite an unexpected adventure. Originally intended as a humorous take on country living through fashion trends, it ended up being a quirky tale about my home life and the animals involved. Yes, I even found myself holding a chicken, which I truly can’t stand with their bony claws and flappy wings!
Despite my aversion, I hope you can admire the lengths I go to for my art. The complete editorial and photos are available in Phoenix, featuring a lovely interview as well. Although the magazine team has been prompt with their content, I have lagged behind, bringing a surprise to those who read the magazine first.
The surprise is my long-time project reveal: The Night Feed. This app is designed for new mothers, or any parents awake in the middle of the night while tending to babies. It was born out of the loneliness I felt during those late-night hours when everyone else was asleep and watching TV was out of the question to avoid waking the baby. After my experiences with my second child, I took the initiative to create a supportive platform for others in the same situation.
The Night Feed is an amazing resource, offering a constantly updated stream of content, including blog posts, reviews, and diary entries. Users can connect through messaging and discussion threads, making it feel like a cozy club you can join whenever you want. Whether you’re looking for practical tools like a feed timer or the best white noise sounds to help your baby (or yourself) sleep, this app has you covered.
Although it primarily caters to parents, the app’s content is diverse and welcoming to anyone, irrelevant of parental status. It allows for engagement at any time of the day, not just during sleepless nights. After all, there are perks to being up at odd hours, like indulging in late-night snacks!
The app is nearly complete and I’ll need volunteers to test it before its official launch. If you’re interested, please let me know. I value thorough testing and honest feedback as we perfect this project before its debut.
I’ll keep everyone posted once The Night Feed is fully operational. This marks the biggest solo project I’ve undertaken, full of learning experiences, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Returning to the quirky photoshoot involving chickens and dining dogs, you can check out my story with Phoenix. The photography was by Richard Grassie, styled by Charlotte Holt, with hair and makeup by Lisa Caldognetto.
