A whole year has flown by since I shared my post about the personalized skincare routine from Anne Sémonin. It was quite intricate, with daily masks and mixable concentrates, adding toners to this and a few drops of oil to that. Once I got used to it, I loved how active and potent the products were.
Even though I have plenty of other things to test, I often reach for the Anne Sémonin Miracle Eye Contour Anti-Wrinkle Cream. I also keep a collection of their gel and cream masks in the shower for a quick morning routine. The Soothing Intensive Complex, a mix of essential oils and trace minerals, is a staple on my skincare shelf.
I was thrilled when Anne Sémonin asked me to write about getting my skin ready for summer. They’ve got an incredible range of face and body products that make the skin glow and feel smooth. There were some exciting new releases that I was eager to try out. So, here’s what I’ve been doing for my summer skin preparation – I like to call it Project Descaling.
Body Prep
My shins were like scales, knees felt like brillo pads, and my elbows were as tough as tree bark. To revitalize my skin, I’ve been sticking to a daily buffing and toning routine with three main products. First, the Exfoliating Shower Gel made it easy to add a scrub into my routine without the hassle of an extra step. It’s not as gritty as a standalone scrub, but it’s enough to make the effort worthwhile. Plus, the act of scrubbing itself feels like a mini workout!
After smoothing my skin, I follow up with a two-step tone and nourish routine: the Lipoliss Intense Firming Body Serum to tighten things up – which feels refreshing and great for hot days – and then the Nourishing Body Oil to soften and soothe. This new serum is packed with ingredients that help enhance skin elasticity, like brown and green algae for hydration, and almond and soy proteins to boost collagen production.
I find the body oil incredibly potent, almost like an all-over version of the facial Soothing Intensive Complex. It’s infused with exquisite essential and botanical oils, offering a spa-like experience at home. The blend of hazelnut, sesame, and buriti oils nurtures the skin, while essential oils like lavender, mandarin, and marjoram aid in healing and relaxation. Massaging it in feels luxurious. I focus on dry areas like my legs and arms, applying the firming serum first and then layering the oil on top.
Face Prep
For my face, I’ve chosen products that blend seamlessly with my existing routine. The key to summer skincare is sun protection, so I use a daily SPF (Anne Sémonin’s Oligo Protect Cream SPF30) alongside the amazing Phytarosa Serum. This serum builds the skin’s protection before sun exposure and provides a natural, sun-kissed glow. It’s deeply moisturizing, making it perfect for applying either before SPF or by itself on a leisurely day. It’s intended for very dry skin and includes macadamia nut oil and beta-carotene to enhance skin color.
Although I usually avoid the sun, the Phytarosa has given me a subtle tan effect. And for those seeking a quicker tan, there’s the Glow, a bi-phase complexion enhancer that should ideally be applied with a cotton pad but works just fine sprayed directly onto the skin if you work quickly. Despite being light and shimmer-free, it effectively reflects light for a lovely, luminous look. It’s more of a skincare essence with added tanning benefits, featuring nourishing oils and antioxidants to protect and boost the skin’s glow.
Additionally, I’ve been integrating the Anne Sémonin Exfoliating Mask into my routine every other day. Though it’s a clay mask, it’s not as heavy as traditional ones and leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. Red seaweed helps exfoliate dead skin cells, and the kaolin absorbs excess oil. You can adjust the intensity of the mask depending on how long you leave it on, from quick brightening to a more thorough purifying treatment.
That’s my routine for both body and face. Now, onto another task – organizing my wardrobe! Time to donate some items, recycle worn-out pieces, and pass on some Diane Von Furstenburg dresses to a dress agency.
