I’ve been working on finding a more permanent home for all my Instagram videos, so I’ve started uploading them to YouTube and then embedding them in my blog posts. It’s a bit of a task and not the simplest thing to do, but it feels satisfying to keep things organized. Honestly, my life could use a bit more of that neatness!
I know some of you prefer just to read rather than watch videos, so I’ll try to write a little intro for those posts. I’m also planning to reorganize the website to make it easier to spot video posts, so you can skip them if you like.
Now, let’s talk about some new beauty launches for April 2022. First up is the Liberty Candle in Faraway Palm, priced at £48. It’s a truly beautiful candle with a scent reminiscent of ancient wood and vintage perfume bottles, similar to walking through the actual Liberty store. It would make a fantastic gift if you’re looking for something special.
Then there’s the Silk Silk Cream Cleanser for £39.99. This was a real surprise find of the month. I didn’t have any expectations because I hadn’t heard of the brand before—it’s not even fully a beauty brand—but the smell and feel of the cleanser are exceptional. It’s like a richer version of Omorovicza’s Queen of Hungary mist, with a creamy texture that effortlessly melts makeup away. Just lovely.
For a tinted moisturizer that’s great for summer, check out Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Tinted Moisturiser in 26N for £26 from SpaceNK. It offers a sheer finish that stays put on oilier skin, with a lovely sheen that isn’t too glowy. If your skin is very dry, I’d suggest using a good moisturizer first, but many will appreciate a lightweight base that isn’t overly dewy. Plus, it comes in a travel-friendly package.
Elizabeth Arden’s Advanced Ceramide Lift and Firm Day Cream is £66 and is among the new and relaunched products this spring. The day cream feels fresh and nourishing, without being heavy. It’s noteworthy for its ceramide content, which supports healthy skin barriers. Elizabeth Arden has always excelled in using ceramides in their products.
Elemis Morning Matrix Moisturiser is quite the luxury at £125. It has a herbal, refreshing scent and that familiar gelatinous texture. It’s designed to protect your skin from blue light exposure from screens, though I’m still on the fence about its effectiveness. It’s gorgeous, but it’s twice the price of the Elizabeth Arden cream. Still, if you’re splurging on a luxury cream, it’s a beautiful choice.
I’ve also been revisiting the original Pro Collagen Marine Cream by Elemis, renowned for its luxurious scent. It’s quite reasonably priced at £89 for 50ml compared to the new Matrix version. Speaking of Elemis, their product presentation makes everything look so enticingly whipped and creamy, just from the photos.
Sali Hughes’ Skincare range with Revolution just launched, offering a concise collection featuring two cleansers, a serum, a moisturizer, and an exfoliating liquid. Each product is designed with hyaluronic acid for deep hydration but a non-greasy finish. The range is simple, with no sunscreen or retinol to keep things straightforward, and everything is under £15, vegan, and easy to find at Superdrug or online at LookFantastic.
