As my pregnancy moves along (I’m already 30 weeks!), I’ve started to really appreciate nightdresses. Before, I wasn’t much into them—partly because of the name “nighties” and mostly because pajamas are so easy to lounge in all day. If you’re a freelancer, you know the appeal of staying comfy in pajamas. There’s something quite acceptable about wearing pajamas for most of the day; not so much with a nightie. If the FedEx driver rings the bell when you’re in star-print pajamas, they might just think you’re a bit lazy. Pajamas are almost like wearing a tracksuit. But answering the door in a lacy nightie? It’s a little too revealing and can feel like you’re in a low-budget adult film.
Lately, as my bump has been growing at a rapid pace, I’ve found myself more drawn to nightdresses. They’re cool and comfortable, and I don’t get caught up in layers when trying to turn over in bed—which is no small feat these days! Plus, a nightie drapes in a way that feels more flattering during pregnancy than a pajama shirt ever could.
My latest find is the “Amourette Spotlight” nightdress from Triumph. It’s got a sexy lace design at the top but is pretty and modest lower down. I stumbled upon their Amourette collection during a launch for Triumph’s bras designed for fuller cups. This range is quite popular, offering many styles and colors, all of which are beautiful and lacy. (I’m planning to write a detailed post about these bras soon!)
This nightdress is a comfy and slightly seductive addition to my wardrobe. While I’m not sure how much longer I’ll fit into it, I’m definitely getting my money’s worth for now. It might be starting to look a bit short at the front, but that’s expected. You can grab the Amourette Spotlight from Triumph for £34.
