Do you remember the time I accidentally hit myself in the face with a big tree? It wasn’t exactly a proud moment; I nearly lost an eye, and I jokingly tell myself that my kids are probably scarred for life. Honestly, they didn’t even look up from their iPads when I yelled “GET DADDY!” I could’ve been facing a herd of rhinos or a snapping crocodile, and they’d still be glued to their screens, painting patterns on a cartoon fire engine. The iPad truly holds their attention.
Anyway, while searching for an entirely different photo, I came across some impressive before-and-after shots I took while testing cover-up makeup. After some detective work, I realized these were from my experiment with Vichy Dermablend, and I had forgotten to share my thoughts.
The reason I never wrote about this foundation, which is unusual since I usually review products when I have before-and-after photos, is that I didn’t wear it again. Typically, I test foundations over several weeks, comparing them to similar ones and see how they hold up in different situations. But I didn’t wear this one again—not because it wasn’t comfortable (it’s actually lighter than you’d expect for such full coverage), but because I just didn’t need it.
Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation can cover nearly anything. With a bit of color-correction underneath, like a peachy tone to neutralize blue tones, it effectively targets scars, pigmentation, blemishes, and even dark tattoos. My photos show that it did wonders on my black eye, which was more like a mix of rainbow colors with some red scratches for good measure. It provided great coverage without feeling heavy and stayed on all day. I’d say the “16-hour wear” claim is modest.
The high coverage does come with a slightly thicker texture, which is why I didn’t use it again. Once my eye healed and people stopped staring, I just used a bit of concealer to cover the most noticeable bruises. The rest of my face didn’t need much coverage, so using Dermablend all over felt like overkill.
Nonetheless, I wanted to document this foundation for future reference. It’s impressive at covering things you’d rather not show and feels lighter than many full-coverage foundations. In fact, Dermablend could almost be considered more than full coverage—it’s nearly stage makeup. Despite its professional-level coverage, it’s affordable and easy to find in stores, available in thirteen shades.
If you’re searching for a high-coverage foundation without a cakey finish, this is definitely worth trying. Vichy also offers Dermablend concealer sticks, which deserve their own spotlight. They’re fantastic for dark circles, spots, and redness. These concealers are like makeup erasers—convenient, easy to apply and blend, and they stick well while still feeling nice. They’re available at a bargain right now.
