Does anyone have a strong objection if I expand my monthly favorites to include things beyond beauty products? I think it could inject some fresh excitement into the format, which has been around for a while but is still quite popular.
The only potential downside is that the selections might get a bit random if I really cut loose. For instance, this month, I might have included a faux-antique rug and a vintage BelgoChrom table that I scored in Belgium at a great price.
I’m not saying all the favorites would pivot to home decor—I’ve also been obsessing over a new Amazon Prime series. These are just some ideas. What do you think? Should we embrace this change and say goodbye to only beauty-focused favorites, or do you prefer things to stay the same?
If you’re not a fan of change, I sympathize; 2020 has been anything but stable. Do let me know your thoughts in the comments—I love hearing from you! But for now, let’s stick with beauty favorites. I’ve mostly steered clear of skincare this month, despite finding a few worthy products. That’s because I’m judging the Marie Claire skincare awards and need to stay objective.
This time, I have two body care items, two makeup favorites, and a unique skincare product. Let’s start with the unique one: it’s a ZitSticka patch loaded with powerful spot-fighting ingredients for those annoying early-stage blemishes. You know the type—once they start to swell, you dread the painful days ahead.
I first tried ZitSticka earlier in the year and hadn’t needed it until last month’s hormonal breakout. It worked wonders, reducing the redness and bump without any need for squeezing, which is always a bad idea.
They’re not the cheapest (around £27), but they’re worth having in your skincare emergency kit.
On to body care: I discovered a Mitchum deodorant that surprised me. It’s marketed as a “man’s” deodorant, but the Cedarwood scent is fresh and appealing. The formula is creamy, aluminum-free, and effective, even after a hot, sweaty walk.
You can find it for £4.50.
As for a seasonal favorite, Weleda’s Pine Bath Milk has been a joy. Typically a winter staple, I used it when I ran out of Epsom salts, and it added a lovely touch to my bathing routine. At £14, it’s a treat if you’re looking forward to cozy, crisp days.
Now for makeup: I’ve rekindled my love for mascaras and have been testing several. I plan to share my top four new finds soon, but here’s a preview:
1. Marc Jacobs At Lash’d Mascara
2. Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes Mascara
3. Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara
4. Dior Overcurl Mascara
All are game-changers for my thin lashes.
Finally, a nod to Trinny London’s “makeup in pots,” especially the cream eyeshadow in Truth and the cream blush in Electra. They’ve won a permanent spot in my beauty lineup.
That wraps up my beauty favorites. Feel free to check out the video for more details, and let me know if you’d be interested in including other types of favorites.
