Today marks my wedding anniversary, so I’m sharing some fun photos! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you might have seen these. There’s one where I look a bit nervous with a grin and a lot of chest showing. You’ll see that before marriage, I’m modestly holding flowers, while post-marriage, a champagne glass seems permanently attached to my hand—it practically was!

Back to weddings! I love talking about mine, but since another person was obviously involved, I need to respect their privacy. Hopefully, Mr. AMR doesn’t read today’s post, but if he does, I must say he’s quite a catch—handsome, smart, talented, and great at picking anniversary gifts. (ARE YOU READING THIS? I got my wedding dresses from the Jenny Packham sample sale for an incredible deal—originally thousands, marked down to £190 and £140. I enjoy spending on clothes, but for a dress you’ll wear just once, it seemed excessive. I still regret buying the cream Christian Louboutin sandals; they got ruined the moment I stepped on the lawn!
Two dresses might sound like too much, but I wanted to change into something less cumbersome for the evening. The long silk dress was tricky to wear—I had to go without a bra since it was almost backless, which was a challenge in itself! The evening dress was a heavy, crystal-embellished knee-length piece with stunning embroidery around the neckline. Both dresses have been sitting in my closet for four years, and I really need to figure out what to do with them. I’ve considered dyeing them but worry about ruining them.
Overall, I made some amazing savings on my wedding outfit—the veil was about £30 online and looked just like others I’d seen for ten times the price! Mr. AMR, true to form, waited until the last minute for his suit and ended up getting one from Gucci. GUCCI! That kind of offset my thriftiness, but oh well. It is a spectacular suit, though.
My friend Dina Catchpole, a top session makeup artist, did my makeup. You can book her for weddings at D+D Makeup. She styled my hair too—these photos make me want to go shorter again, though it never looked quite like this in regular life!
