I’ve probably brought up Beauty Pie’s Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm before, but it definitely deserves its own detailed review. This balm holds its own against many luxury cleansing balms when it comes to texture, scent, and effectiveness. Top-quality balms tend to have a soft, smooth texture—not too firm to be waxy, yet not so soft that you scoop too much out. My go-to choices are usually the Elemis Rose Cleansing Balm and the Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm. However, Darphin is on the pricier side, so I reserve it for special occasions. Both smell amazing, which unexpectedly matters to me, as it enhances my evening routine. Importantly, they allow ample time for massaging and wash off easily without drying out my skin, unlike some other balms that contain oils.
The Apricot Balm from Beauty Pie can easily rival my high-end favorites in a blind test. It smells gently of apricots—pleasant but not overpowering—with a formula that includes nourishing rosehip and apricot kernel oils, fruit waxes, and added vitamin E. As you massage it into your skin, it transforms into an oil that effectively dissolves makeup, including mascara and eyeliner, then rinses off cleanly leaving no dryness behind. Even if this balm carried a luxury price tag, I’d still adore it. But here’s the best part—it’s priced at just £12.10, plus postage. This is a luxury-level balm available at a high street price. Beauty Pie claims an equivalent product would cost around £50, although I’d compare it to the Elemis balm, which is £44 for the same size.
This balm is a bargain at £12.10, provided you’re a member. I won’t delve into Beauty Pie’s buying structure here, but their skincare range is impressive, including the fantastic Super Retinol and Japanfusion lines. I’m currently trying out a few more products, and they’re all excellent.
You can find the Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm on their website. Suitable for most skin types except those sensitive to fragrance, this balm leaves your skin clean and balanced. Don’t shy away from using balms if you have oily skin—you might find they leave your skin feeling cleaner and less stripped compared to using foaming cleansers or washes designed for oily skin.
