While browsing the nightwear section at Marks and Spencer, I stumbled upon a delightful new find: a beautiful range of lightweight, cotton pajamas and night-dresses under the brand “La Maison de Senteurs.” Since I’ve recently moved temporarily into a barn while my house is being renovated, the rustic, Country Living vibe of this collection really appeals to me. The collection features muted tones, crisp white cotton, and broderie anglaise trim—quite different from my usual style. Maybe it’s the pregnancy, but I’m oddly attracted to these pretty, almost virginal pieces.
I decided to treat myself and bought the Pure Cotton Floral Embroidered Chemise. It fits nicely over my bump and made me feel like someone who might spend the entire day reading by a window in her parents’ quaint farmhouse in the rural South of France, waiting for a suitor to return from the fields. Realistically though, it’s the kind of nightdress that gives you a summery, optimistic feel—like wearing freshly-laundered cotton sheets. Just add a small jar of lavender on your bedside table for the complete idyllic effect.
The full Maison de Senteurs range is available online, and I’ll definitely be going back to pick up a matching dressing gown. I’m also loving the Rosie for Autograph collection, although I’m a bit annoyed they went on sale right after I paid full price. I got the Floral Cuffed Hem pajama bottoms, which are incredibly comfortable, and I like how the ankle cuffs keep them from riding up at night. I also bought the Cocoon Wrap with Cashmere, which was quite a bit cheaper in the sale. I enjoy “night” knitwear—slouchy jumpers and wraps perfect for lounging and throwing over pajamas. I’ve really embraced the loungewear-layering trend since discovering Hush, which is great for stylish yet comfy outfits. I’m planning a big spring shopping spree from Hush soon!
