While searching through my photo library for a picture of myself holding an avocado (long story), I realized I’ve been wearing the same Hush dress for about a month. It’s the ultimate comfy summer dress—like an oversized t-shirt with pockets—and I’ve paired it with everything from sandals to cowboy boots, and even barefoot. Clearly, it’s a great dress.
Though it’s quite short, so if you do get it, avoid bending over in public unless you want an unexpected view. In my head, bending over looks glamorous, like something from a Helmut Newton book. In reality, it’s more like a map of Mars, with worn-out beige cotton underwear. Not a pretty sight.
The dress is great because it doesn’t fly up in the wind. Once, I was waiting for a cab in London when my dress flew up around my waist—a moment that took me back to my younger days. I used to tie a cardigan around my waist to prevent this, especially when rushing to castings. I even considered putting weights in hems or using clever gadgets to keep my dress down.
So, even though it’s short, the fact it doesn’t blow up makes it pretty neutral in terms of benefits. If your legs are in decent shape, it’s fantastic because they’re mostly what’s on display, while the rest is concealed in the roomy t-shirt style. Plenty of space to feel comfortable—yay!
Now, here’s some snapshots featuring the dress. Imagine me crossing a bridge—dresses and bridges are a classic combo. I also tried posing in front of modern art at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. Take note of the cowboy boots; they’re old favorites from Durango.
At another point, I pretended to read a book in the dress, looking every bit the seasoned poser. Another moment had me herding my kids to dinner at a Greek resort, face concealed by a huge hat, old Topshop sandals on my feet. It’s memories like dragging them around a historical isle that make the best stories.
I even played the role of ACTION MUM for a moment. I attempted to carry Ted in a backpack carrier, and it felt like hauling bricks. Never again, though Mr. AMR insists the Thule Sapling Elite carrier is excellent. It’s been through tough terrains with our kids, and he’s become its biggest fan. It’s on my list to review it in full, but really, Mr. AMR should share his expertise.
Finally, here’s a picture of me in front of a holiday home I was invited to check out. A full post will follow. The place was peaceful, perfect for rest. Carrying the baby was a workout—the most exercise I’ve had in years!
