Last year, I bought a coat from Diane von Furstenberg and initially loved it, so much so that I removed all the tags. But a few weeks later, to my dismay, I realized I didn’t like it anymore. It felt too large and awkward, and it didn’t even have pockets. Feeling guilty, I tucked it away in a suit cover at the back of my closet with the thought of selling it on eBay when the time was right.
Fast forward six months, and I stumbled upon it again. This time, when I tried it on, it actually fit perfectly! While I can’t fasten it over my baby bump, it flatters my newly rounded shape beautifully. With a black dress underneath, my pregnancy isn’t as obvious, even though I’ve started to show significantly.
I’ve been pretty creative with my maternity wardrobe, picking up essentials like leggings with extra tummy room and dresses made for pregnancy. Mostly, though, I’ve been finding ways to wear my current tops and tunics over my growing bump. Some standout pieces have been my Stella McCartney jumper dress and many items from Hush. The better quality clothes in my closet have been really helpful; they often have extra fabric, which is great as my waistline expands.
The dress I’m wearing for this look is from Donna Karan. It was a bit of an investment, so I’m trying not to stretch it too much, but it’s been wonderful so far. I should probably do a pregnancy style post or video soon, as I’ve enjoyed exploring new ways to wear my current wardrobe. However, I worry that I might burst a few seams soon!
The tights I’m wearing were a great find. They’re pricey but fantastic—soft, thick, and 200 denier. I picked them up for £12 from Accessorize while on my way to Paris. Normally, I wouldn’t get tights there, but I needed them quickly from King’s Cross. ASOS offers a three-pack of 200 denier tights for £22, but they don’t look as opaque online. I plan to test them out soon. I do love a thick, smooth pair of tights!
