I’m getting a bit tired of doing the same makeup look all the time, so I decided to switch things up. While it’s great to stick with what works for you, trying out new tips and tricks can really enhance your look. You never know what’s out there unless you experiment a bit.
Here are three small changes I’ve made to my makeup routine that you might want to try, too.
The Eyeliner Swap:
I’ve switched from using a regular eyeliner pencil to applying a dark brown shadow with an angled brush. I gently press the shadow into the lash line at the inner corners and flick it out a little at the outer edges. This technique gives a softer effect than a traditional liner, which can make my eyes look tired and smaller if I’m not careful. The angled brush makes the look more subtle and foolproof, unlike using eyeliner pencils that can be tricky if they’re not sharp enough.
The All-Over Glow:
Instead of just highlighting specific areas, I’ve started using a glowing powder all over my skin. This provides a radiant sheen without looking oily or weird. I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders because they are non-glittery and fine. A darker shade on the cheeks adds depth, while a lighter shade over the t-zone helps set the makeup for longer wear. On special occasions, I tried Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Brightening Powder, but it’s best to use it sparingly unless you want to shine like a beacon. It’s much better on cheekbones or less oily areas.
The Darker Brow:
Making my brows slightly darker has really enhanced my look. Just a shade deeper with a brow gel gives a youthful and chic appearance without going overboard. I’m staying away from dramatic penciled brows and just using a lightly tinted brow gel for a subtle change. I’ve been using the Light Brown gel from Authored to add a bit of drama without any hassle.
Even though I filmed a video about these changes, my phone camera didn’t capture the details well. But trust me, these small tweaks make a significant difference.
