I was a bit anxious when I heard that Lancome had reformulated the legendary Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation. This foundation was renowned for its high coverage, long-lasting wear, and the way it blended seamlessly into the skin. It covered all blemishes and imperfections without making your skin look lifeless. It gave a flawless, airbrushed finish, masking redness, dark circles, and pigmentation, while still maintaining a subtle glow and a velvety-matte look.
The feel of the foundation was amazing too. It was cushiony, never settled into lines, and seemed to move with your skin. It was the perfect full-coverage foundation for adults. So, I was curious about what changes Lancome had made. Could they really improve something that was already near perfection?
Apparently, they have. Lancome’s new version maintains the comprehensive coverage, cushiony application, and long-lasting wear of the original. Plus, they’ve added skincare ingredients that you can actually feel making a difference. After a week of testing, wearing the old formula on one side of my face and the new on the other, I noticed that the new side felt continuously hydrated throughout the day. It felt plumper and more springy, while maintaining the same excellent coverage.
I doubt any Teint Idole fans will be disappointed with the new version. It retains its great features but feels a bit more hydrating, which I personally appreciate. It offers the same coverage while being more comfortable and flexible on the skin.
It’s important not to confuse this reformulated Teint Idole Ultra Wear with the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care & Glow. Care & Glow offers less coverage and more dewiness. You can tell them apart by the lid color: white for Care & Glow and black for the classic high-coverage Idole. I prefer the feel of the high-coverage Idole over the Care & Glow, even though the latter provides a stunning level of radiance that almost eliminates the need for a highlighter.
I should mention that I use only a small amount of Teint Idole when applying it. It doesn’t need to be piled on and looks best when applied lightly, starting from the center of the face. One light layer is usually enough to reduce most blemishes and redness. It even helps to conceal the marks from my glasses without looking heavy. The foundation provides a velvety-matte finish with a luminous quality that looks elegant and expensive. It creates the perfect base for other makeup, like bronzer and blusher, resulting in a smooth, flawless canvas.
You can find the new Teint Idole Ultra Wear at Lancome’s website, LookFantastic, and Selfridges. With 45 shades available, Lancome has improved the pigments, avoiding any ashy undertones. I use shade 220C now, compared to the slightly warmer tone of 02 in the old formula. It suits all skin types, doesn’t slide from oily patches, and doesn’t settle into fine lines.
