While writing my last skincare post about finding an SPF my Mum would actually use, I recalled a nice little discovery I made at her house recently. I stumbled upon a pot of Perricone MD moisturiser in her bedside drawer while rummaging around, a habit I’ve noticed people revert to as soon as they visit their parents. This wasn’t just any moisturiser—it had a “face finishing” tint.
I originally sought a face cream because I accidentally washed my face with gardeners’ hand-wash, leaving it really dry. Looking at the hand-wash, I mistakenly thought it was some sort of organic cleanser, which is a good reminder that I need my eyes checked. As I started applying the Perricone MD cream, a lovely bronze glow appeared on my skin, making me look healthier despite my hectic schedule and not-so-great diet lately. My skin looked like I had been well-rested and had a health-focussed lifestyle, rather than surviving on minimal sleep and a poor diet.
I’m familiar with these moisturiser and tint combos—Estée Lauder’s Sheer Tint and Origins Ginzing are both great and provide a nice glow while hydrating the skin. Similar to the Perricone MD version, they look like ordinary creams but reveal a subtle tint when applied. They provide a sun-kissed look without looking heavy or shiny, perfect for achieving a natural appearance without foundation.
The Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint seems to have a bit more tint compared to Ginzing. I can’t compare it to Lauder’s version since my Mum has it. It also features a mineral SPF with titanium dioxide, which blocks both UVA and UVB rays, and the tint prevents any white residue on the skin. It leaves a desirable, juicy finish that isn’t greasy, staying true to its “Face Finishing” name. It’s a great last step if you prefer skipping makeup, and adding foundation seems unnecessary if your skin is in decent condition.
More than just a finishing step, this moisturiser is packed with antioxidants and fish oil-derived omegas, making it excellent for day-to-day protection, with or without the tint. It’s like a multi-functional skincare wonder—it acts as an antioxidant moisturiser, offers broad-spectrum SPF, and has a believable bronze tint for a healthy look without a chalky finish. It also provides a velvety result, perfect as a makeup base or standalone.
Though it is not cheap at £59 for a 30ml pot, I consider it a high-tech face cream with extra perks rather than a simple tinted moisturiser. I was so impressed that I intended to buy it online, stopping short of taking it from Mum. Then, I realized I already had a pot waiting in my skincare stash, which made me really happy. It did remind me of how behind I am in product testing and managing my inventory—I need help catching up!
Looking up where to buy the Face Finishing Tint online revealed that it has rave reviews, which is always reassuring. It’s nice when personal opinions are confirmed by many others having the same positive experience. This discovery also made me think I should start a regular feature about things I uncover in Mum’s beauty drawers. Some highlights would include L’Occitane’s Almond Oil spray and a perfume called La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens, with a fantastic rose scent. Who knows what other treasures are hidden in her beauty collection!
