A few weeks back, I couldn’t stop talking about the Lola dress from Whistles. It’s one of those throw-on dresses that skillfully conceals a full meal’s indulgences (like three courses, two cherry beers, and half a cheese packet) yet still looks stylish. It’s casual enough to pair with sneakers, but the smart cut also makes it look chic with sandals or ballet pumps.
Now, let me introduce the All Occasion Shirt Dress. It’s perfect for weddings or an easy option for holiday evenings with some sparkly flip-flops. This particular dress is the Prita from Diane von Furstenberg, and I own it in two different prints already, with a third on the way. Made from lightweight silk crepe de chine, it effortlessly drapes over the body without sacrificing shape. It’s refreshingly cool in the heat without being transparent like some high street options that resemble nightwear.
Whether you’ve just had a baby, are early in pregnancy, or like me, had a baby a while ago but still have a bit of a tummy, this dress is ideal. It suits everyone, even if you have a model’s figure, but is particularly great if you’re self-conscious about your midsection and want to avoid bodycon or cut-out dresses. The shirt dress offers a really fashionable alternative.
I’ve bought both my Prita shirt dresses over a year apart from The Outnet, so I can vouch for the shape. I love how the front is shorter than the back, meaning no wardrobe malfunctions whether you’re helping someone up from the dance floor, catching a train, or getting on a horse. These dresses usually cost around £300, but I snagged mine for £150 each. At £154, the one shown is a bargain for a designer silk dress, as a similar high street option would cost nearly the same.
