I’ve started a series on Instagram called “3 Best Beauty Buys,” where I regularly share posts. The name might not be the most creative, but it accurately represents what the series is about. I’ve already created an IGTV video on products for “Maskne,” the term for acne caused by wearing facemasks, which you can find on my page. Currently, I’m preparing a video about the best firming eye creams, and I’d like to share my journey with you.
Before filming, I always jot down a bunch of notes to keep myself focused, otherwise, I might end up discussing random topics like parking issues, singing foxes, or the nuances of British queuing. Writing these notes on my website makes sense, as it creates a useful post for you to read, instead of scribbling them on scrap paper and recycling them later.
Here are three firming eye creams I’ve tried and noticed great results with. Normally, I use the Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Serum, but after a summer of using antioxidant and Vitamin C products, I’m shifting focus to firming creams.
First up, the DCL Peptide Plus Eye Treatment, priced at £86. DCL gained attention in the UK a few years ago with their well-formulated, effective products, although they’ve been a bit quiet since. This eye cream is deeply hydrating and helps increase elasticity around the eyes, smoothing fine lines. It claims to help with dark circles, but in my experience, it’s more about firming and making the skin feel more resilient. I’ve tested it thoroughly and am now on my second bottle.
Next is Paula’s Choice Clinical Ceramide-Enriched Firming Eye Cream, costing £43. I realized later on that it contains retinol along with ceramides to strengthen delicate eye skin. This is Paula’s Choice’s most advanced eye cream, which is exciting because their products are usually well-thought-out and straightforward, with no marketing fluff. The pump-action bottle is convenient, and the cream’s rich texture is perfect for relieving dry skin around the eyes.
Lastly, there’s Vichy’s Neovadiol Rose Platinum Eye Cream. Admittedly, I was initially drawn to its packaging. I prefer tubes and bottles over pots, which can get messy, but this charming pink pot feels wonderfully retro. It reminds me of visiting a 60s French pharmacy to buy cold cream and hair rollers. The cream inside is delightfully rich and nourishing. Although it’s marketed for menopause-related aging, it works just as well for any signs of aging. It’s available for £18 instead of £27 until the end of October.
