Lately, I’ve been visiting Marks & Spencer more often since there’s a huge store not too far from where I’m temporarily staying in a barn. It’s about a fifteen-minute drive, which is great because everything else around here, including phone reception, is quite far. With my phone out of action, little things like this are quite exciting.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect vest for a while, and the search intensified during my pregnancy. I wanted a vest that was soft and stretchy, not too clingy, but still had a nice shape. Before pregnancy, I looked for vests that fit well around the bust without clinging to the stomach area. Now, as my belly grows, I’m looking for something similar, even though I know anything I buy will likely cling to my belly.
I think I’ve found a good option at Marks & Spencer in their lingerie section: the Ribbed Lace Trim Vest available in four colors. I initially picked it up in lavender grey, and I liked it so much I went back for a black one. The ribbed texture is very flattering and looks more expensive than plain cotton or jersey. The shoulder straps are wide enough to cover bra straps, which is crucial. It’s not too low-cut, accommodates the tummy, and respects body contours well. It’s only £7.50 and has proven to be a versatile piece in my wardrobe. The vest is great for layering, soft, lightweight, and has a longer length to cover hips and the lower back, which is important because I prefer not to have my bottom exposed with every movement. In today’s world of cropped tops, a longer one is refreshing! I love the lace detail, but I’d love if M&S made a version with plain edges for a sportier look—I’d buy it in every color.
