When I first wrote about my new Louboutin Moulamax boots, I wasn’t aware they already had quite a buzz online. Earlier in the year, before the official launch, stylist Samantha McMillen posted a video on Instagram showing how the sequins on the boots changed from silver to rainbow when brushed. She called it “unicorn skin.” Somehow, I missed all that, possibly because I ignore anything related to unicorns, mermaids, or cupcakes. Yet here I am, months later, the owner of these stunning sequined boots, which I’ve grown to love even more over the past week. After some practice, I can finally walk in them confidently without that awkward hunched posture you adopt with overly high heels. You know, the look that suggests you’ve got lower back pain or are carrying an invisible safe. Now I only wobble when a small child or cat darts near my ankles.
These Christian Louboutin Unicorn Boots just keep getting better. Now that I know what to pair them with, it’s only a matter of time before they see the light of day outside my house. As promised, I’ve put together some outfits with three different looks—casual, semi-sexy, and glitzy—to show the surprising versatility of sequined boots.
For a casual look, I just throw on the unicorn boots with pale blue jeans (my go-to denim choice) and a grey cable-knit sweater. The jeans are a bit old from Abercrombie & Fitch, and the sweater is from Vero Moda. I love pairing fancy footwear with a simple outfit. It’s like wearing grey cashmere with red lipstick: one bold feature that stands out effortlessly. If you’re worried about overdoing it with glitzy disco boots, this is a great way to wear them.
The semi-sexy option is ideal for a fashion-conscious approach. It starts with a dress that’s flattering but not too body-hugging. Think of a cozy sweater dress you’d wear to a daytime lunch. Adding these boots transforms the look entirely, giving it a slight 80s vibe with the dress suddenly appearing shorter and edgier. Here’s where the Louboutin Moulamax works its magic!
As for the glitzy look, I tried a super short dress, but it’s not for me. I realized how challenging it can be to wear something just an inch longer than necessary. My mind was constantly trying to remember little rules like not bending over or leaving my bag on the floor. If you have a good memory for such things, this sequin dress could be perfect. Joking aside, it isn’t that short, and it looks amazing—the color is beautiful and the fit is impressive, considering sequined dresses are often shapeless. Mine had a tricky zipper, but it’s manageable. The dress was £68 at ASOS.
You can find the Moulamax boots at Net-a-Porter, but I did promise a more budget-friendly alternative. These boots from New Look are great and only £34.99!
