I’ve grown quite fond of a good slogan or logo on a t-shirt. It adds a bit of flair, turning the t-shirt from a basic, practical item into a more thoughtful fashion choice. However, it doesn’t actually require more effort to put on a t-shirt with “WONDERWOMAN” on it than a plain one. The only difference is that one is a tad more visually engaging, depending on how you feel about often seemingly meaningless words in trendy fonts.
The downside is that having words on your shirt can lead to awkward moments. People trying to read your shirt have to glance at the chest area, and sometimes their eyes linger, which can be uncomfortable. I’ve found myself staring at someone’s shirt for a long time, trying to decipher “Miracle Wanker” in a fancy script, only to realize it actually said “Miracle Worker.”
Here are some of my favorite slogan and logo tops right now. They feature clear fonts and range from simple t-shirts to luxurious cashmere options.
– Selfish Mother Mama T-Shirt: Priced at £30, this is part of the Selfish Mother brand at John Lewis, known for its bestselling hoodies and tops. Each purchase donates £5 to the mothers2mothers charity. The t-shirt has soft cotton and a flattering fit with a perfect length to cover the hips.
– Sandro Wool & Cashmere Sweater: At £239, this jumper has a retro vibe, perfect with denim shorts and fresh white trainers in summer, even if the idea of shorts makes me cringe a bit.
– Love Stack Jumper: Available for £79 from Hush, this soft jumper is pastel and pretty, ideal for spring.
– Love T-Shirt: Priced at £39 from Hush, it features a font reminiscent of Coca-Cola’s. It might be a “love overload,” but layering is always an option. Plus, there’s a sweatshirt for a triple love-threat!
– Heartaches T-Shirt: At £27 from & Other Stories, this sweet shirt pairs well with denim shorts, at least in a world where I can wear them like I did before having kids.
– J’Adore T-Shirt: This Boohoo favorite is just £10. It’s soft, flattering (though it runs a bit large if you prefer a snug fit), and the “j’adore” design is both punchy and cool. For ten pounds, you can’t go wrong!
